“The competition has been useful to me in interviews - I have been asked to explain what it involved, as I have put it quite prominently on my CV.
It has been good to use as an example of something practical I have done which made me still want to work in marketing; in both terms of the actual marketing activity and the pressurised work environment.”
Jasmine Cummins, Competitor 2005

The Event
On the day all participating teams and their advisors need to report to the venue and register by 1.30pm.
Once all teams are registered, each team will be given a ‘time-slot’ for their pitch. You can do whatever you want in your pitch but must adhere to 3 minutes and 8 powerpoint slides only. You must bear in mind that the client panel will be judging you on the following:
- Understanding of the brief
- Interpretation of the brief to create your strategy
- Application of marketing tools and techniques
- Creativity
- Presentation style and quality
- Innovation
Your team will be contacted before the event to discuss your technical requirements for the day.
After you have ‘Pitched’ make sure you take on board the feedback that the judges give you to help with your final presentation should you be successful in going through the final, but please note that no changes can be made to the presentation itself. Then it’s just a matter of relaxing and waiting for the evening event to see whether you have been selected to go forward.
Free refreshments (tea, coffee, soft drinks etc.) will be available throughout the day and a buffet will be served at 6.00 p.m. when the evening guests arrive. You are very welcome to invite supporters, friends and colleagues to cheer you on. Make sure that they register here.
We will announce the three finalists at the beginning of the evening proceedings. The finalists will then present their ‘Pitch’ one more time in front of the audience, from which a winning team will be selected.
